Ingredients Glossary

All ingredients in Collagen Balm are also safe for consumption, as we expect that anything that can be applied to your lips will end up in your mouth as well.

Gelita® Sol C Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides

Micro collagen molecules absorb into the epidermis and create a film on the skin's surface. Clinical studies on Gelita® Sol C have shown an improvement in hydration, barrier function and increased collagen synthesis.

Sunflower Seed Oil

Contains vitamin A, D and E, and is rich in calcium, zinc, potassium, iron and phosphorus. Used to soften and smooth skin in skin care products.

Beeswax

Thanks to its non-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties, beeswax is used to soothe and protect the skin from airborne allergies. It also contains antioxidants, which work to rejuvenate, firm, and plump up skin. Works as a natural hydrator, which is why it is a key ingredient in many skin and lip balms. It helps to lock in the skin's natural moisture and provide a light barrier on the skin's surface.

Shea Butter

Rich in fatty acids, vitamins A, E and D, and antioxidants. Known for its healing properties, it renews and protect the skin against harsh elements.

Avocado Oil

One of the most deeply penetrating oils, it absorbs into the epidermis, making its moisturising benefits more intense. Rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, as well as potassium and lecithin. Avocado oil is heavier than some other oils, however it absorbs fully and won't clog pores or leave any residue.

Mango Seed Butter

Softens, smooths, soothes and hydrates skin as it is a rich source of fatty acids.

Coconut Oil

Loaded with fatty acids as well as antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Used topically, hydrates, plumps fine lines and gives skin a radiant glow.

Olive Fruit Oil

Loaded with antioxidants and vitamins A and E, it moisturises and repairs skin. It also nourishes cells, helping to renew, firm and smooth skin.

Aqua

Water.

Parabens

Chemical preservatives. Increase product shelf life and keep the product bacteria free - but are also associated with increased rates of breast cancer. Some skins can also become sensitive or irritated by products containing parabens. So no Parabens.

PEGS, SLS and SLES

PEGS (Polyethylene glycols) - Humectant and solvent). High concern with this ingredient for contamination, and moderate concern for toxicity.

SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate)

Emulsifying agent and Surfactant. Moderate concern for skin, eye and lung irritation, and moderate concern for organ toxicity. So none of these!

Fragrances

Fragrances are known to be irritants for all skin types, so we have kept them out.

Ways To Use Collagen Balm Vanilla

Massage onto lips, any areas of dry skin or on stretch marks, any time of day.

Its also great for dry hands and cuticles, especially in winter.

How does collagen work when applied topically? Does it actually get absorbed?

Sol C collagen peptides are produced by gentle enzymatic hydrolysis to produce super fine micro collagen peptides that both absorb into the epidermis and form a protective barrier on the skin's surface, improving skin hydration and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Both In-vivo and in-vitro studies have demonstrated improved hydration, barrier function and increased collagen synthesis with Sol C collagen peptides.

How do I use Collagen Balm?

Gently massage a small amount of Collagen Balm directly onto lips, stretch marks or any areas of dry skin to instantly hydrate and form a protective barrier.

How often should I use Collagen Balm?

For lips and dry skin you can apply Collagen Balm as often as you like, whenever you notice your skin feeling dry. For stretch marks, apply at least twice a day (morning and night) directly to the affected area to keep skin supple, hydrated and nourished to assist with healing.

Do I need to consume Collagen Beauty at the same time as using Collagen Balm

Including Collagen Beauty in your diet will get you the best results. Consuming collagen provides the building blocks for collagen production from the inside. Collagen Balm provides collagen on the outside, improving barrier function and plumping and hydrating the epidermis. So feeding your skin from the inside and outside will definitely give you the best results!

What is Sorbitan Oleate?

A food grade surfactant (reduces surface tension) and emulsifier (combines water and oil) made from oleic acid (from olive oil) and sorbitol (a natural sugar alcohol). It is biodegradable, non-toxic and non-irritant.

What is Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate?

A food grade emulsifier (combines water and oil) made from castor bean oil. It is biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-irritant.

The ingredients list has some big words in it - what are they?

Cosmetics always have a lot of sciencey sounding ingredients in them - but fear not, we have done our homework and chosen only the best and safest ingredients for Collagen Balm - all food safe too because, let's be honest, if it goes on your lips, you're going to end up with some in your mouth. Have a look at the full ingredients glossary for the breakdown of each ingredient (you can find this in our ingredients section). We have stayed away from all Fragrances, Parabens, PEGS, SLES and SLS.
