Coconut Ginger Bone Broth Soup
This simple, flavorful soup is perfect for starting a rich meal or as a soothing remedy for colds and sore throats.
Ingredients
- 950ml chicken bone broth, homestyle or any flavor
- 1 1/2 cups whole coconut milk or 375ml creamed coconut
- 1/4 teaspoon dried chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Sea salt or Red Boat fish sauce (available from Just Green, Hong Kong)
- Optional: finely chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish
Instructions

Prepare Broth Base:
- In a pot, bring the bone broth to a boil. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface.

Add Flavors:
- Stir in the coconut milk or creamed coconut, lemon juice, chili flakes, and freshly grated ginger.
- Reduce heat and let the soup simmer gently for about 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Season and Serve:
- Season to taste with sea salt or fish sauce.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and, if desired, garnish with finely chopped green onions and cilantro.
Serve: Enjoy as a comforting start to your meal or a remedy for sore throats and colds.
