Coconut Ginger Bone Broth Soup

This simple, flavorful soup is perfect for starting a rich meal or as a soothing remedy for colds and sore throats.

 

 

Ingredients

  • 950ml chicken bone broth, homestyle or any flavor
  • 1 1/2 cups whole coconut milk or 375ml creamed coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Sea salt or Red Boat fish sauce (available from Just Green, Hong Kong)
  • Optional: finely chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish

 

Instructions

  • Prepare Broth Base:

    • In a pot, bring the bone broth to a boil. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface.
  • Add Flavors:

    • Stir in the coconut milk or creamed coconut, lemon juice, chili flakes, and freshly grated ginger.
    • Reduce heat and let the soup simmer gently for about 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • Season and Serve:

    • Season to taste with sea salt or fish sauce.
    • Ladle the soup into bowls and, if desired, garnish with finely chopped green onions and cilantro.

 

 

Serve: Enjoy as a comforting start to your meal or a remedy for sore throats and colds.
