The Teeth Serums Contain: Finnish Birch Xylitol, a naturally sweet extract from the bark of birchwood trees. Dr Hisham’s only use non-GMO, sustainable Birchwood Xylitol from Finland for its purity, quality, and validated efficacy. Ozonated Aqua, sourced from deep aquifers near Katikati, where Avocado & Kiwi fruit orchards are at the centre of the world.

This fluoride-free pure water is then triple filtered to remove any chlorine or residue, then highly disinfected using freshly-generated ozone. Organic Coconut Glycerine*, which is used as a homogeniser for many of the essential oils that do not dissolve in water.

Dr Hisham's oral care system is the first of its kind. While traditional toothpastes contain irritants, toxins, abrasives and detergents, the Dr Hisham’s range champions holistic oral care and overall human health. Developed by leading laser cosmetic dental surgeon, Dr Hisham Abdalla, the Dr Hisham’s teeth serum was created as an oral care supplement that really cleans the teeth and gums, while also nurturing and protecting the mouth and oral microbiome.

Western societies are now beginning to grasp the dire consequences of the unpronounceable ingredients hidden in our food supply. And our morning and evening brushing routine is not exempt from this issue. The Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 estimated that oral diseases affect 3.5 billion people worldwide. Why? Harmful detergents and abrasives

We have become accustomed to incredible chemical features such as foam, lather, shine and buff, and we deem this as "effective". But, to what cost? Ultimately our health, and the health of our environment. Triclosan (TCS) is an anti-microbial chemical found in various consumer products, including conventional soaps, hand sanitisers, toothpaste, and mouthwash. Numerous studies have raised concerns citing negative human health effects.

Debates centred around whether this chemical is fuelling antibiotic resistance is rife. Marvin M. Lipman, M.D., Consumer Reports chief medical advisor, suggests: "there is evidence that exposure to triclosan interferes with the production and activity of hormones in the body, which could contribute to infertility, early puberty, obesity, and other problems,".

In response to the rising efforts against this triclosan, in September 2017, the Food and Drug Administration effectively banned TCS in the sale of antibacterial soaps and body washes after manufacturers failed to prove that the products' active ingredients were safe and effective.

This rule failed to ban its use in hand "sanitisers" or wipes or antibacterial products used in health care settings (including toothpaste and mouth wash). Long-time exposure to harmful agents: detergents, surfactants, harsh abrasives, dangerous ingredients (triclosan, sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), propylene glycol, artificial sweeteners, diethanolamine (DEA) parabens, plus many more, can lead to:

• Sensitive gums
• Damage to irreplaceable tooth enamel
• Demineralisation of teeth leading to a chalky-feel and spotty cosmetic damage
• Chronic toxicity (carcinogenic)
• Organ toxicity (heart, liver, lungs and brain, and causes damage), and
• Aquatic environmental toxicity.

“Natural flavours” that aren’t always natural

Additionally, the cost of natural flavouring for your morning minty fresh breath may come with steep consequences. Conscious consumers are shying away from potentially harmful "flavourings and preservatives" and opting for "natural favours". But, did you know, flavour manufacturers do not have to disclose their ingredients?

They freely add synthetic solvents, preservatives, emulsifiers, carriers and other additives to a flavour that qualifies as "natural" under current regulations. In addition to flavours themselves, these mixtures can contain over 100 harmful chemicals* that have other functions. Alarmingly, solvents, emulsifiers, flavour modifiers and preservatives often make up 80 to 90 per cent of the mixture.

Dangerous chemical cocktails threaten healthy, normal oral regulation, and the drying effects of the petroleum-based chemicals may contribute to the problem. Saliva is necessary to moisten the mouth, neutralise acids produced by plaque, and wash away dead cells that accumulate on the tongue, gums, and cheeks. If not removed, these cells decompose and can cause bad breath.

“Natural toothpastes” may not be much better

There are also a lot of so-called “natural” toothpastes out there that claim to clean your mouth, but at the expense of adding all these toxic irritants and chemicals that are not good for anything inside your mouth or your microbiome.

Will using natural teeth serum give me fresh minty breath?

Dr Hisham’s teeth serum contains organic Mentha Piperita oil (peppermint oil). It provides a fresh, sharp, minty taste followed by a cooling sensation. Peppermint oil has been widely used for its anti-microbial effect and to relieve irritation and inflammation.
